We are pleased that you are considering transferring to UF to continue your educational journey. Here are answers to frequently asked questions.

How do I know if my courses will transfer?

We accept general education courses from regionally accredited institutions. We do not accept remedial, developmental or vocational courses.

How many credit hours do I need to have if my school is on the quarter system?

90 quarter hours equates to 60 semester hours.

Can I take my prerequisite courses at UF?

No, all prerequisites courses must be taken prior to attending the University of Florida.

Can I apply before I have completed all requirements?

Yes, as long as you indicate on your application that you will meet all requirements before the term for which you are applying.

Can I transfer to UF without declaring a major?

No, all transfer students must declare a major on the application.

Is it possible to double major as a transfer student?

Yes, you would select your preferred major on your application and then work with the college to which you are applying to determine if a second major can be accommodated.

Can I apply for two majors at the same time?

No, transfer students may only be considered for one major at a time.

If I am admitted into a major and then decide that I don't like it, can I switch majors?

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to change your major after being admitted.

What is the deadline to apply?

It varies by college and major, and application can be made up to a year in advance. Review the transfer application deadlines for your desired program.

What if I need to make changes to my application after I have submitted it?

To request a change, email us.

Do I need to send in my AP/IB/AICE/CLEP scores?

Yes, you need to send them in separately, unless you are earning your AA degree from a Florida public institution.

Do I need to send in my SAT or ACT scores?

You do not need to send in SAT or ACT scores unless you are applying to an Education major or Construction Management major.

When will I get my decision?

It varies. The admissions office reviews your application for completeness, but the actual decision will be made by the college/department to which you are applying.

I already have a bachelor's degree and would like to get another bachelor's degree. Can I get my second bachelor's degree at UF?

UF does not allow students to earn a second bachelor's degree on campus. This option is only available for online students and students studying at statewide locations centers.
