You are about to begin one of the most exciting times in your life as a UF student. The Office of Admissions wants you to have an easy transition as you continue your academic journey. Complete these steps to ensure a successful transition to the University of Florida.
As a new student, you’ll need a UF identification number (UFID) to perform many necessary functions. You may locate your UFID by clicking on the inverted arrow next your name on your application status page.
A few days after you are admitted, you will receive an automated email that will prompt you to create your Gator digital identity. This account name is public and is used as your access to most UF information systems as well as will become your UF email address. You only get one opportunity, so make it count.
UF Exchange is the email service for our university and is the best way to stay in contact with your professors, advisors and others who are here to help you stay organized. Set Up Your Email
Financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The priority deadline was December 15, 2016. If you have not applied yet, apply as early as possible to be considered for the most and best aid available. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and learn more about all types of financial assistance, such as scholarships, grants, loans and work study.
Confirm your enrollment with a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit, paid with a credit card. It will be applied to your student account. UF must receive your tuition deposit by May 1.
Preview is your official orientation to UF and is the first tradition of every Gator. It is an on-campus experience that introduces students to academic, social and community opportunities. This is when students will register for their classes. Registration details will be sent via email in February 2017.
For on-campus housing, complete the application and submit the $25 nonrefundable housing application fee. Applying does NOT guarantee an offer of residence hall space. Housing Application and Housing Contract
Once you have completed your housing contract, sign up for RoomSync to connect with other new UF students. Room sign-up information will be sent in April for new residents. Questions can be directed to 352-392-2161 or email@example.com.
For off-campus housing, UF has a department that provides assistance. Off Campus Life assists students with their off-campus housing search and transition to living in the Gainesville community. You can contact them at 352-392-1207.
Send final high school and/or college transcripts before July 31.
