You are about to begin one of the most exciting times in your life as a UF student. The Office of Admissions wants you to have an easy transition as you continue your academic journey. Complete these steps to ensure a successful transition to the University of Florida.
When you submitted your application to UF, you were given your official University of Florida Identification Number (UFID). You will need this number to perform any of the necessary and critical functions of a new student. If you no longer have your UFID, please follow these instructions to obtain your UFID.
GatorLink is your computer network identity at the University of Florida. GatorLink offers access to a variety of campus computing services at no cost. You may have already created a Gatorlink account to access your application status. If not, you will need to create a GatorLink account to complete some necessary student transactions at UF.
You must secure your place in the Freshman Class by accepting your offer of admission and submitting the $200 non-refundable tuition deposit (Florida Bright Futures or Florida Prepaid plans do not cover this deposit). Complete the online enrollment confirmation and pay your online tuition deposit no later than May 1. The tuition deposit will be applied to your UF account.
PaCE students: Return the PaCE contract and mail the $200 non-refundable tuition deposit in the form of a check or money order to the UF Office of Admissions by May 1.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 15. Applying several weeks earlier than this deadline will ensure that UF has time to process the results of your FAFSA. More information on financial assistance, scholarships, grants, loans and work study.
To secure on-campus housing, you must be admitted to one of UF's residential programs, have completed your housing application and paid the $25 non-refundable housing application fee. Approximately two weeks after admission, the UF Department of Housing and Residence Education will email additional information on how to complete the housing contract and return the Contract ID form with advance rent payment by the date specified.
Living off-campus? The Office of Off-Campus Life can assist you with finding a range of housing options in Gainesville.
Preview is your introduction to UF and is a mandatory two-day orientation for students and is encouraged for family members. You will learn about academic requirements, receive academic advising from a faculty member and register for classes. You and your family will attend sessions on financial aid, housing, student health, campus safety, dining services, campus involvement and many other programs and services. Additional information.
UF requires all new students to show proof of immunizations prior to attending UF Preview/orientation.
In order to register for classes, students must submit a completed UF Mandatory Immunization Health History form.
NOTE: If needed, these immunizations may be obtained from the Student Health Care Center on the UF campus in Gainesville.
All domestic students who are enrolled at least half time in a degree-seeking program, as well as all international students, are required to provide proof of health insurance that meets or exceeds UF's guidelines or they will be automatically enrolled in the default student insurance plan.
