African-American High School Scholars Program
Sunday - Monday, July 12 and 13, 2009
UF Campus in Gainesville
NOTE: Registration is no longer available for the 2009 programs.
The African-American Outstanding High School Scholars Program is designed to acquaint superior high school students with the University of Florida. Your academic performance in high school demonstrates the level of achievement and commitment we want in University of Florida students.
The two-day program begins Sunday, July 12, and concludes at 2:00 p.m. the following day. The University of Florida provides on-campus lodging for invited students in Broward Hall.
Use this opportunity to explore your scholastic future and to gain an insider's perspective of the application and admissions process. You and your parents will meet current students, faculty members and administrators. You will have an opportunity to experience college student life, explore the majors and degree programs offered at UF, and learn more about the admissions process, financial aid and scholarship opportunities. There also will be guided walking tours of campus and opportunities to visit the facilities that interest you.
Selected students will need to register as soon as possible after registration opens in May, for registration will close when the program reaches capacity. You will receive confirmation of your registration along with directions to the university.
Because residence hall lodging is just for students, a list of hotels and directions to campus is provided for you and your parent(s), who are encouraged to participate in all program activities. We do ask, however, that you limit your guests to your parent(s) or to one adult family member (no more than two guests, for a maximum total of three in your party).
We look forward to your arrival this summer when you are a Gator for a weekend! If you have any questions or special physical needs, please contact the Office of Outreach and Community Development at 352-392-9960.
